Why Do I Drive for Uber?

Last Updated on by B. Thermidor

I bet that you heard of Uber, or maybe you know someone who is using Uber. In case you’re not familiar with the rideshare company which is already starting to take over the taxi industry. Uber is a real time ride-share service that allows those with personal vehicles to connect with those who need a ride. All this happen through a mobile app.  Here you’ll find more details of what Uber is all about.

While it doesn’t require much to become an Uber driver, but it’s not that easy as it sounds. Nowadays, the process is not complicated either; in fact the whole application process and requirements took me 5 days. I started to drive soon after that.

I like to drive for Uber mostly due to its flexibility, and obviously the money I am making.  I get to meet so many people from different walks of life. The stories I’ve heard and continue to hear, and the things I’ve seen, all of this has shaped me to be a better person.

In this blog post, I’ll let you up to par about everything when you get to drive for Uber. You can get signed up with Uber, and start making money on your own terms and most importantly when you want.

How Flexible to Drive for Uber

Many people have asked me on many occasions why I continue to drive for Uber even though I have an ASN degree.  I jokingly tell them, it’s simple, if you look up “job flexibility” in a dictionary, you will see Uber logo next to it.

Other than the reason I stated above, Uber gave me the opportunity to go back to school and get my nursing degree.  The flexibility comes with Uber is amazingly superb, you can actually log on & off the Uber driver app whenever the hell you want.

You get to do as many rides as you wish. Tell me a job you know that you don’t have to call off, you don’t have to follow a schedule, you can clock out when you want, and you can work when you feel like it.  Don’t worry I’ll wait, please tell me!  Exactly, it’s only Uber.

No matter how disagreeable we are with Uber on some issues, one thing that is undisputable among all drivers is flexibility.

If you have a car, and you’re not working, you actually owe it to yourself to at least give Uber a try.  If you want to know what it’s like to drive for Uber or want more reasons to, I wrote an article, you can read it here.

How Much Do I Make With Uber

People often ask me how much I make driving for Uber. I usually tell them I make enough to pay my bills and the flexibility that comes with it is priceless.  Let me be specific a little bit here, in Tampa FL, I usually make $15-$20/hr on average.  But this amount can greatly vary depending on your location and the time you choose to drive.  You might want to read here about the best time to drive for Uber.

Remember, while driving with Uber might sound great in your ears, you will have to meet the cost for maintenance and fuel cost etc…

How much you make driving for Uber ultimately is going to depend on several factors. If you don’t have a car, there’s way you can acquire one through Uber, remember to conduct your due diligence to see if it’s worth it.

At the end of the day, it’s up to you to test Uber yourself and find out how much you can actually make.
