Uber Pass: Worth your time or another useless promotion?

For many people, getting around the world without personal transport can be a nightmare. Walking everywhere isn’t possible, and using public transport can sometimes be a pain in the ass. If you want to use private transport, you will often pay pretty unfair rates. Do that several times a week, and the cost of your transport soon adds up and you’ll find yourself asking what the hell I was thinking. For many, the alternative is to use Uber. It’s affordable and generally easier than other private transport options. Uber, though, now offers something very new: Uber Pass.

Is this the right choice for you, though?

What is Uber Pass?

First let me tell you what it’s not. Uber pass is nothing like a bus pass where you can hop in and swipe your card and you’re good to go. Uber drivers don’t care/don’t know how you pay for your ride, they get pinged by Uber to pick you up, and they get paid for the ride by Uber. Having said that, the Uber pass ride is the understanding that Uber riders have with Uber by paying a monthly subscription to guarantee a low fare at any time, no surge prices.

My understanding of the Uber ride pass, I would say in a way it’s a peace of mind knowing you won’t have to put up with jacked up prices when the demand is high. It allows you to consistently lock in low prices on any Uber ride anywhere the Uber pass option/program is available

Uber Pass was brought in due to the price changes that can impact on a customer during the day. If your ride home from work is more expensive than the ride home to work, that can all add up later on. If you want to make the most of using Uber, though, you need to get used to the idea of paying a more specific fee. This is where Uber Pass comes in.

Known otherwise as Uber Ride Pass, this is a must-use tool for those who want to really make their commute a bit more affordable. It’s a great choice for those who want to help get a more consistent price. Now, you can get a much lower price than you would normally on any ride that you take, anywhere in a city, at any time of day. Out of all the pass options being offered by transport apps, it’s up there with the best.

Add in the fact that its monthly fees start at just $14.99, and Uber Pass is very much affordable. Whether it’s a trip home from the movie theater, a ride home after a wild night or just a daily trip to work, you’ll spend less and end up saving more. While that added monthly fee means you need to be using Uber a lot to benefit from it, if you use Uber even a few times a week it is probably worth investing in.

Should I get Uber Pass?

It all depends on how often you use the service, in truth. If you happen to use Uber once or twice a month, it’s not worth it that you won’t get any value from the Uber Pass. If you use it on a regular basis – three days or more per week – then you’ll get to see the difference in savings from the Uber ride pass.

This means that you no longer need to try and second-guess fare jumps, knowing what you’ll be paying instead. Now, with Uber Pass, you can more adequately prepare your weekly transport budget. It’s a great tool for that alone, vastly reducing the amount of time that you spend waiting for affordable transport.

Now, instead of any nasty surprises, you’ll spend around $15/month and save a lot more than that. If you use Uber to get to work on a daily basis, you’ll probably see a return on investment within a week. Make no mistake: Uber Pass is a fantastic choice for those who use the service a lot. If you do, you’ll find it very easy to start spending less and saving more.

Getting around shouldn’t be so expensive – so why not use Uber Pass to your advantage?

How to Subscribe/Sign Up for the Uber Pass?

It’s not hard or complicated to sign up for the Uber ride pass; in fact it’s pretty simple. Obviously you want to make sure that the Uber pass program is available in your area. As I stated above the Uber pass ride is not nationwide wide yet, it’s only available in a few cities in the United States. Once you confirm that’s it available, you can sign up for the Uber pass subscription using the Uber app following these steps:

  1. Open the Uber app and go to the menu by clicking on the triple bars found in the upper left hand corner.
  2. Next, tap on “Ride Pass.”
  3. Then you want to tap “Get A Pass.”
  4. Confirm the credit card you want to use to pay for the subscription, if you already have one in file, Uber will use it. Having said that if you want to use a different card, now is the time to so.
